La positività per VCA-IgG e EA-D IgG indica che con buona probabilità la persona presenta un'infezione da EBV in corso o recente. Se gli anticorpi VCA-IgM sono negativi ma quelli VCA-IgG e EBNA sono positivi, allora è probabile che la persona testata abbia avuto un'infezione pregressa da EBV.
Come si trasmette il virus Epstein-Barr?
Il virus Epstein-Barr (EBV) si trasmette principalmente attraverso la saliva e le secrezioni provenienti dalla gola (faringe) delle persone con l'infezione in fase attiva. Il contagio, quindi, può avvenire mediante: uso comune di stoviglie, posate e bicchieri in famiglia, nei ristoranti e nelle mense.
