What is a notch apple?
In Minecraft, the enchanted golden apple is often called a Notch Apple. When you eat an enchanted golden apple in Survival mode, it gives you status effects such as Regeneration II, Absorption IV, Resistance and Fire Resistance.
Why did they remove notch apples?
Only the crafting recipe was removed, mainly because with the constant improvements on automatic tree and gold farms, it became too easy to farm these notch apples (who are ridiculously overpowered). So instead of breaking the farm mechanics back then, they simply removed the recipe.
Can you still find notch apples?
Enchanted golden apples are now uncraftable, no longer making them renewable. Enchanted golden apples have been added to dungeon, desert temple and mineshaft chests. Enchanted golden apples are now found in the new woodland mansion chests.
How rare is a god apple?
In both Java & Bedrock, they can be found in dungeons, mineshafts, desert temples, ruined portals, and mansions. They can also be found in bastions in Java Edition. There's NEVER more than a 6.5% chance for an enchanted apple though. Enchanted golden apples are really rare unless you installed a mod or something.
When was crafting God apples removed?
After Minecraft 1.9, this recipe was removed, probably because it was rather OP, and gold blocks could be easily obtained by a gold farm. If you want more "Notch" apples, you may have to downgrade Minecraft to 1.8, and come back to 1.16 or whatever version you are using.
