Un'altra versione riporta che Perseo fu ucciso da Megapente per vendicare Acrisio. Perseo poi fondò Micene, facendo costruire ai Gasterochiri delle mura invincibili come quelle di Tirinto. Perseo ebbe da Andromeda molti figli maschi e una femmina: Perse, Alceo, Stenelo, Eleio, Mestore, Elettrione e Gorgofone.

E Perseo ha sconfitto tutti grazie alla testa di Medusa. Secondo altri testi, è stato Fineo, zio e altro pretendente di Andromeda, a scatenare la lotta. Ed anche in questo caso, Perseo avrebbe vinto grazie alla testa di Medusa.
